I'm afraid I have hopped on the golden bus when it comes to decorating the home and the holidays...
This metal Antique Bloom wreath from Terrain is absolute perfection...
Golden, whimsical and will only get better with age..
Sounds like someone I know..

Just in case you need a bit more sunshine...

Fabulous & Creative Wreaths.... Part Trois

You know it's the Holidays when wreaths begin to magically pop up on peoples doors...

I am obsessed with a good wreath and the one in the picture above has to be one of my ALL time favorites...
It was created by the flower whisperer herself, Miss Yumiko of Hana Floral Design, for a Winter Wedding Shoot that I designed back in 2009.

So.. for Part Trois of the Fabulous and Creative Wreath roundup, I decided to go in the direction of "found items".
These are wreaths that can be made with ANY object that is found either natural or man-made..

 The Sea

Living by the sea, we have boxes, bags and jars and filled to the brim with shells...
Unfortunately on the Connecticut Coastline, there is a lack of the exotics...
What we are left with are mussels, jingles, clams, oysters and the famous Stonington scallop...
But I think you might agree..
That they can be just as lovely too...

The Pinecone

Pinecones are a plenty here in the Northeast...
You can't walk anywhere without stepping on one..
I am amazed at just how many different kinds there are..
Whether they are painted, gilded, glittered or au natural..
They certainly stir up Holiday spirit...

The Herb

I just brought in my rosemary plant in hopes that I may use her all winter long for cooking...
But she would look and smell just as lovely as a simple wreath...
How about a eucalyptus wreath in the bathroom?!

The Junk Drawer & The Kitchen

You are sure to have these items around...
Random tacks, apples, spent Christmas bulbs, peppermint candies from your purse and the credit cards that need to be snipped...
They look much prettier as a wreath than in that dreaded messy junk drawer...

Fabulous & Creative Wreaths..Part Deux!

Pinecone Wreath via Real Simple

Last year, I did a little post called Fabulous & Creative Wreaths...
Apparently, it was one of the most checked out post to date..
So...I decided a Part 2 was in order..
This time, there are some creative gems but I thought it was also important to list a few store bought favorites for those of us who have simply run out of time!

In the Tall One's family, the wreath is a very very big deal!
When the rooster crows the day after Thanksgiving, the "Aunties" of the Big House on the Island,  get together for some serious wreath making!

First, the tools are brought out...
Second, greens are gathered from the Island or brought from home which are then very carefully placed into piles.
Third, Don't forget those gloves and a few berries..
Fourth, It's always good to have a helper nearby...
Finally....the piece de resistance...the bow!
I feel extremely lucky to have been part of this family tradition...
In fact.... When the Tall One and I were dating...he made one and very very carefully brought it into the city for me....
At that moment..
He literally had me at wreath...

So here you go folks..

Fabulous & Creative Wreaths!!

Today I had to take an "Elf" day (as Miss Amy Graver puts it). I have been so busy designing these Gift Guides that I haven't even decorated our home or shopped for Christmas presents. So the fabulous Heidi picked my up after the school bus left and off we went doing what she said "live in the present".
We had coffee and treats at Li's Bakery, made our way to the Mystic Art Center for some very cool handmade gifts and then off to our absolutely favorite store...Nest.  I can't thank her enough for this...Sometimes it's the littlest gifts that mean the most.

So with that being said, it's time to decorate! I have waited 6 years to finally trim our tree with the "really good ornaments". However....with the addition of the impish Calvin my plan has been deflated..So, the Monster and I will be creating some very interesting and non-breakable ornaments, decor and garland for our tree and home this weekend. I promise to give you all a glimpse next week and one can probably predict that it will involve glitter and glue.

So to inspire me, I went searching for some very interesting and creative ideas to help us along...

What I found were some seriously out-of-the-box ideas for wreaths..
