Black Swan a Swimming....

In just a few days, the Oscars will be upon us. Glittering gowns will be drifting and dancing down the red carpet, setting the tone for a year full of fashion. Last year, I gave nod to a style icon, the beautiful Miss Grace Kelly. This year, I decided to give nod to a modern actress who I have been enamored with since she first appeared in The Professional in 1994, a mere 17 years ago at the ripe old age of 10.
Miss Natalie Portman has certainly paid her dues and is finally up for Best Actress for her portrayal in Black Swan.
So what's a girl to wear?
In 2009, she glimmered in a pink Rodarte..Fabulous!!
This year, with baby on board and growing rapidly, picking a dress might be a little harder.
She has already shown up in a pink Viktor & Rolf at the Golden Globes and a white Azzaro at the Sag Awards...

So my friends..What color are you predicting?

Shall it be
passionate and fiery red?

Vintage

Serene and confident blue?

Or
even better...could it be MY personal favorite
Glittery and shimmery metallics?

Whatever the case may be, she will look absolutely fabulous with a beautiful story to tell her little peanut.

Happy Weekend!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!

For the past few weeks, I have watched (slyly from the window) The Monster take his sled out and zoom over stone walls and stone steps at moc speed. Fortunately no head injuries and all teeth are still intact (for now)!

Late last week, when I had a little oral surgery and was feeling lousy, I saw him wander with dog and sled in tow into the woods...
Many minutes later, there was a knock at the door..
There he was, standing outside with a grin from ear to ear and a sled filled with sticks of all shapes and sizes...
"Mommy, I got you wood to make a fire so you could feel better"

So I couldn't help but giggle (and tear up a little) when I found the image above..
Only thing missing..a waggily tail...

Starting at 4 today, school vacation will have begun and you will probably see hoardes of children with sleds in tow...

We are super excited as we get to spend some quality time with Auntie "Egg" who is "awesome" as "she works with the Judge to put bad guys away".
Imagine...a WOMAN without a cape and tights that protects us and puts the bad guys away...How wonderfully this world has changed!!

Stay safe and warm!!

Dueling Designers...Part Neuf...

Image found via Martha Stewart

With Presidents Day rapidly approaching on Monday, I thought the Dueling Designers should give nod to our first President, Mr. George Washington, with a Cherry Blossom inspired party. What better way to do this than with Pantone's color of the year, Honeysuckle! Once again, the fabulous Miss Amy Graver of Elements Design rocked it out of the park.

We in the Northeast, were granted a gift of a 50 degree weather day today so I couldn't help but imagine sitting on an old quilt, under a cherry tree full of pink blossoms, in a sweet as pie sundress, eating delicate desserts. Thankfully for us, that time is not too far away as the National Cherry Blossom Festival begins March 26th in Washington, DC.

On the offical Cherry Blossom Festival store site, I was pleased to see that they offer a Give-A-Tree Card. For a mere $5.95, The National Arbor Day Foundation will plant a tree in a National Forest!
What's not to love..a beautiful card and a new tree?!

Wood You, Could You?

I have been excitedly working away on a fabulous Save the Date which will soon be revealed at the end of March. Needless to say, I have a little wood grain on the brain..So when I saw this amazingly beautiful vase..I fell head over heels in love! Created by Laurel Begley, this fab ceramic vase can not only be customized in color but also with you and your sweethearts initals..

With Spring around the corner, The Monster and I have been dreaming about the design of our vegetable and cutting garden for this year. With our 10 year wedding anniversary coming up this July and some fresh flowers from the garden, this would be an absolute hit!

Happy Weekend everyone!!!

The Monster and I will be busy this weekend making valentines, going to the movies and painting our own hearts in the snow!!
We can't wait!!!!!

How will you be spending this Valentine's weekend??

Stay safe and warm!!

On a side note.. I just received the sweetest and most wonderful news yesterday. Apparently, Glitter, Glue and Fireflies has been nominated in the design category of the Lovelies Blog Awards. It's exactly like American Idol where viewers get to vote and pick their favorites to win. Honestly, I have to laugh as I am in a room full of Meryl Streeps of the blog world like Mrs. Lilien and Decor 8..I am the true underdog!! However, I am deeply honored just to be nominated and in the same room with some of the most talented and creative bloggers..
PS..If you skip over to the wedding category you will find two lovelies themselves..Sparkle and Hay and Lovely Little Details!

Let your imagination grow..Lil Hoot

Over the past few weeks, I have been eagerly awaiting and crazily excited to be able to bring this post to you! If you have been following along with Glitter, Glue and Fireflies you might just recognize the beautiful woman in the pictures above. If not, this lovely lady, the fabulous Miss Sarah Loomis Crawford has graced many of my posts including Let your Imagination Grow on True & Wesson
and most recently in the Holiday Gift Guides this past December.

As I had mentioned in the Holiday Gift Guide, this lady is certainly one to watch. Little did I know, a mere month later, that I would receive the call I had been waiting for for years. Miss Crawford has allowed her imagination to grow by coming up with an ingenious idea...planning and designing kids birthday parties.
Now if I wasn't such an insane designer and relished designing the Monster's parties, I can tell you Miss Crawford would be the person I would call!!
Witnessing her design the most AMAZING weddings EVER, she is the Queen of thoughtful, creative and certainly out of the box details. Most importantly..she does it with passion and with heart!

Sooo...I was flattered, excited and deeply honored that Miss Crawford asked me to do her company branding. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to collaborate with her again...Like two peas in a pod...

So without further adieu...
Let's Meet Mr. Hoot, the face of Lil Hoot Parties..

I have to admit it folks..this HAS to be my all time favorite company that I have branded thus far. Mr. Hoot was inspired by Miss Crawford's twin daughters love of owls. Honestly..I could look at him all day...I have fallen in love with an owl...

So, we designed up some simple business cards and flat notecards to get Mr. Hoot on his way..

But the ultimate of ultimate was the design of Lil Hoot's web page...

Trust me folks...you HAVE to go see it....Simple, clean with a bit of a surprise....
All I can say is that Jon Michaelsen of Braincloud Media is a creative GENIUS, the coolest cat out there and he is stuck with me forever!!

So run, jump and fly on over to Lil Hoot's web page, Facebook page and most inspiring..the blog..

It just goes to show you...by letting your imagination grow, anything is possible!!

Love, Honey and Coffee...

I consider myself to be one lucky lady....a beautiful and loving family, amazing friends, a great house and a career where I get to do what I love. One of the luckiest pieces to my puzzle of life is an amazing Mom-in-Law. She is magical, mystical, loving and a great Momee (grandma).
A million years ago when the Tall One and I had just gotten engaged and recently purchased our antiquated farmhouse, my Mom-in- Law and I went window shopping in Watch Hill, R.I.. We both have a deep fondness for all things hand-made and whimsical. On our adventure, we spotted the sweetest heart coffee scoop EVER. Created by Beehive Kitchenware, which now has a fabulous shop on Etsy, each piece is hand cast using antique tools. I fell madly in love.
Without missing a beat, My Mom-in--Law surprised me with it as a housewarming gift.

It's funny how an object so simple can bring back such amazing memories and feelings.
It is now proudly stored in the drawer under the coffee maker and every morning when I make the coffee, it makes me think of that special day and takes me back to
when we bought our home and why I married my very tall man.

Thank you Momee!!
