Swirls of pink and touches of green wrapped up in lace...

I would have to say that in order to create and design Wedding Invitation Suites and Save the Dates for couples, one has to be part Swami or mind reader. What I mean is that you have to be able to see far far into the future. What will this fabulous day, that's a mere year away, look like? So, when I saw this image taken by Steve Depino for Kate and Brad's wedding last Summer, it immediately brought a smile to my face.

There they were, hand in hand, joy just beaming across their faces at one another.
It's exactly as I had pictured it!

Inspired by one of my all time favorite artists, Miss Anna Bond Of Rifle Design and a love story that traveled across country, helped bring the design to life and allowed guests to have a little insight into what they would expect to see and feel on Kate and Brad's big day.

Nothing makes me happier than working with couples who have a bit of the DIY bug. Not only does it stretch their budget but it also shows me that they have a true passion for design.

I thoroughly enjoyed my creative meetings with Kate and Brad. Who would have guessed that the real DIYer just happened to be Kate's mom..Polly.

She is just as obsessed about design as I am...
She knew every blog, every magazine and every article ever written about weddings.
This made it extremely easy to plan the paper for their wedding. It began with the Save the Date, moved to the Invitation Suite which then quickly led to the ceremony and reception.

With a winning collaboration, a little letterpress, flat printing, gorgeous calligraphy, a touch of lace and pink twine, Kate and Brad's story gently unfolded.

The Invitation
The invitation began with beautiful calligraphy by the amazingly talented E. Danae Calligraphy and the simple touch of a custom postage stamp brings a bit of whimsey and color back to the envelope.
The pocket envelope tied with pink twine and the custom lace envelope liner gave the guests layers to unfold and the ability to wonder what might be inside...
Inside the soft grey pocket envelope a bevy of confectionary treats!
Soft grays and pinks swirl and twirl on the letterpress invitation.
I spy with my little eye a K and a B!
The flat printed response card mimics the invitation and the pink envelope with the custom postage stamp gives an unexpected twist!
A custom map filled with playful imagery helps guests find their way.
While on the back, a list of Kate & Brad's favorite places in Connecticut gave guests the opportunity to tour the area through the couple's eyes.
More lace gets entwined and finds its way onto the reception card.

The Reception
The Mother of the Bride's handiwork....
Using the lace design, Polly created this lovely program for the ceremony.
The menu was hand punched by Polly which softly and subtly brought the lace back to the table, while a flat printed label, hand calligraphed by E. Danae Calligraphy ,indicates a few of the yummy treats served at the reception. A glassine bag with a custom sticker allowed guests to fill up and take home those decadent desserts.
Well, there you have it amazing collaboration, a Swami, a creative Mother of the Bride and a couple just beginning their lives together with beautiful images of swirly twirly hearts that will continue to dance in their heads for years to come!

Congratulations Kate and Brad!

Polly...You are truly amazing!

On a side note...How extremely yummy is that bouquet created by the fabulously talented Miss Yumiko of Hana Floral Design ??!!
