a little glitter to start your week....

Do you ever have those moments when you have FINALLY decided on which direction you want to go in when designing a room and then all it takes is one accessory to make sense of it all?

Well I did with this fabulously glorious Sailendra Pillow from Anthropologie...

For quite sometime, I have hemming and hawing about our guest room, or shall I say "Auntie Egg's Room"?

When the room was first built, the Tall One chose "October Sky" for the walls..which is a very very light peachy pink...
(personally I think he was hoping for that little baby girl to add to our brood). With the softest bed you can imagine and a shell chandelier (and the only t.v. in any of the bedrooms) it has often become my refuge or "woman cave". But sadly it has become the room of misfit furniture and therefore lacks no rhyme or reason...

Enlisting the help of my dear friend and stylist guru, Miss Heidi H, we started to pull images for what I like to call a Pink room for a Grownup-
Bohemian Rhapsody style.
It's not easy...as working with various shades of pinks, oranges and corals can definitely sway into the land of tiny princesses...

But with these images in mind, I know it can be done!!

or
do we go with some utterly fabulous grasscloth???

You know us Wasps don't bleed red...we bleed coral...

The possibilities are endless but luckily with my Anthropologie find and Miss Heidi's help we can whip up some gorgeousness in no time...

Stay Tuned...

Speaking of Miss Suzanna March...I am deeply grateful for her blog love that she bestowed on me this past week...

Breathing a sigh of relief....and crossing many things off on my to do list...it's time for a mini day of R & R..to celebrate a very special day with the most special ladies of all..

Happy Weekend!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!

For the past few weeks, I have watched (slyly from the window) The Monster take his sled out and zoom over stone walls and stone steps at moc speed. Fortunately no head injuries and all teeth are still intact (for now)!

Late last week, when I had a little oral surgery and was feeling lousy, I saw him wander with dog and sled in tow into the woods...
Many minutes later, there was a knock at the door..
There he was, standing outside with a grin from ear to ear and a sled filled with sticks of all shapes and sizes...
"Mommy, I got you wood to make a fire so you could feel better"

So I couldn't help but giggle (and tear up a little) when I found the image above..
Only thing missing..a waggily tail...

Starting at 4 today, school vacation will have begun and you will probably see hoardes of children with sleds in tow...

We are super excited as we get to spend some quality time with Auntie "Egg" who is "awesome" as "she works with the Judge to put bad guys away".
Imagine...a WOMAN without a cape and tights that protects us and puts the bad guys away...How wonderfully this world has changed!!

Stay safe and warm!!

Holiday Gift Guide Day 8 Dogs by Margaret Farrell

In my last post, I spoke about a little impish kitten named Calvin. Well he is just the youngest of my 3 sons, and of course you know the monster but rarely do I speak about my first born. He is 80 lbs of muscle, brindle coated, part Pit with crazy yellow eyes and basically a big ball of love. Even though he is part Pit, I can honestly tell you that he is a lover not a fighter. The Hubbie and I brought him home almost 11 years ago after searching and searching through various shelters. To tell you the truth, he scared the @#%&^@ out of me with those lanky limbs, huge paws, classic Pit noggin, those crazy insane eyes and the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound. But like all parents, you can't honestly fall in love with your child until you really get to know them...And let me tell you..I fell hard! I really can't imagine life without him..Who else greets you at the door (after you have left 5 minutes) and thinks that you are the best thing in the world! A few years ago I used this quote on our Holiday Card:

" I wish I could be the person my dog thinks that I am"

I have been watching my beautiful boy age...so many white hairs that he now looks like a raccoon and that jumper...(interesting that all my boys are professionals at that) well his back legs don't work so well and the pouncing has been replaced with that not so discreet nose in the .....

One of his favorite things is when "Auntie Egg" comes for a visit. This way he can climb up on her huge comfy bed and get the attention he so deserves. The Lovely Miss Margaret Farrell understands this as she has 2 rescue pups at her home, Minnie and Max. They are a brother and sister duo of naughtiness, hilarity and deep love.

Miss Margaret has found some fabulous finds for all you dog lovers..
as I am finding out that it's a dog's world..

A ruff-ruff, tail wag and woof for the Lovely Miss Margaret Farrell...

Holiday Gift Guide Day 3 Men by Margaret Farrell

It all started with a simple knock on the door at a small apartment complex in little ole Salem, Virginia. Little did I know at the time, how important this person would be in my life. From College came the trek to the Big Apple where we had the times of our lives. Sadly, time, a move, a husband, a baby and her in Law School kept us apart but it wasn't long before there was that simple knock at the door. Twenty-one years later, Miss Margaret Farrell (fondly known as Auntie Egg and actually has her OWN room in our house)is positively and absolutely one of my dearest and closest friends. During our time apart, she became a lawyer and quickly started working in the D.A.'s office in Suffolk County, NY. I couldn't be prouder of her. Seriously though, how lucky am I that I have a truly honest lawyer at my fingertips? She is always one to help out another in times of need and without even meeting and without question, has helped out some of my friends, including Miss True. She is one of the most exciting people I know. She reminds me of NYC, as you never know what type of adventure you might be in for..And Even though she's off saving the world and keeping our streets safe, she always has time to play, giggle and love the monster. She never ceases to amaze me and whatever she touches seems to turn to gold. She is my rock, my cheering section and creative consort. She even has bewitched the monster.

Right now, she has braved the elements and has finally decided to go off on her own by starting Farrell Law.

Being a woman in a man based field, I can attest that this woman knows men...
So without further interruptions..The Fabulous Margaret Farrell

"As Lucinda so aptly wrote ... Without change there would be no butterflies.  2010 has been a year of metamorphosis for this lady lawyer; I made the decision it was time to leave my nest in the District Attorney’s Office, spread my wings and fly into the wonderful world of private practice. My wings sparkle with glitter, and there are so many people who have been the glue to guide my path so I can follow the fireflies to places where my heart and mind flourish.

So, when asked to participate in this amazing Holiday Gift Guide, I fluttered with sheer joy.  What a cool way to say thank you to my family and friends who have been steadfast supporters while I follow my dreams.  Without saying, the ladies have been my inspiration..and the men in my life...well each one has been incredibly wonderful. I adore a gentleman and realize I am one lucky gal to have so many in my life who never cease to amaze me.  They give great advice, guide me down unknown paths illuminating the way for me so that I don’t get hurt, include me in golf outings, ask me to second chair serious civil trials, give me a wonderful home, make me feel a part of the gang and most of all they make me laugh."
