a little glitter to start your week....

If only I had the gumption to wear these spectacular

If I did..
I would also go back in time and tell my 20-something year old self..
"Get rid of those ridiculous over sized clothes and slip into a pair of these India Hicks Microshorts"
Because you can!

Seeds and Stamps...

Certainly one design element that often gets forgotten when creating wedding invitations is the stamp...
Those who are not looking for pricey custom or vintage ones
are left to the mercy of the United States Postal Service...
Sadly the array of .64 cent stamps is exactly that..
SAD...

But this year my lovelies..
This year I could honestly design an entire suite around these FABULOUS vintage seed packet stamps...

Ok..maybe I'm a little biased as they are
some of my favorites colors
and
possibly perhaps
that
90% of them are either growing or soon to be growing in my garden.

Can you imagine how lovely this garden wedding would be?

Brides & Grooms..
I would be running on over to USPS before they all get picked!

Sea for Two....

They say patience is a virtue...
sadly it is one virtue that I don't have...

I just finished up Katie and Joe's wedding suite and instead of waiting months I decided to pick up my camera and shoot away...

Inspired by vintage block prints, the sea and of course my favorite Island..
We created a suite that was both whimsical and alive with color.

With the addition of the word tomfoolery...
I think we can guesstimate that this will be one fun party!!
I honestly can't wait to see the lovely Miss Adrienne O'Connor of Ruffles and Tweed work her magic for their big day!!

Question is...
what would your favorite dance song be?

Happy Weekend!!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!

It's been a slow moving week in my neck of the woods as I have been battling a very persistent and rather annoying cold.
Being sick as you get older definitely is a drag...
BUT...
Thankfully the weather has been super deliciously delightful today...and Saturday seems to be the last HURRAH before we get a serious cold snap and things start to feel a little bit more like Fall.

Isn't that floral arrangement above to die for??
Thumbs up for Lemon Blossom Designs!!

Today when the Monster gets off the bus...
We shall be cutting away in our garden for the last of our blooms before the potential frost hits..
This way we can bring the last of Summer into our home as we sit snuggled up by the fire..

Be Safe, Pick some Dahlias and Have a Great Weekend!!!!

Papillon....

Image by Stephanie Williams for Ruche

What is it about butterflies that simply touch your soul?
This Spring, I planted some extra special Bee Balm & Veronica just in time for their Summer arrival....

At the Island, the milkweed had overtaken the Hay fields...
So...a couple years ago, some decided that it was time to spray and rid the fields of what they think is a noxious weed...

So the Monster and I headed over there (crossing our fingers)
in hopes that this year we might just find some Monarch Butterfly eggs and caterpillars..

What we learned was...
that Mother Nature is very persistent
(and had obviously heard our wishes)
and never EVER gives up the good fight..

She not only brought back the healthiest batch of milkweed this year
but
THE largest selection of Monarch caterpillars & eggs
the eye could see...

 A few beetles having some...ahem...fun
 Some serious acrobatics..
 No leaf unturned...
 Almost time for chrysalis...
Giving Old Glory a nod on our way out...

Lace it up....

It's official...
We are actually having a mini heat wave here in the Northeast..
Who would have thunk it would be right smack dab in the middle of June!!
You know it's really hot when the Tall One has "allowed" me to turn on the a.c.

That being so.....
When I saw this gorgeously fabulous gown from the 2013 Resort Collection of Monique Lhuillier.
my heart and soul were on FIRE!!
It is simply to die for...
Can you EVEN imagine owning this gown?!!
If there was ever a dress that could sum me up..this would be it!!
Vintage, modern, handmade, textural, classically cut and wonderfully colorful!

 A girl can dream..

But maybe..just maybe...
I might just find a little lacey number to soothe the soul..

Lost Love Found Again...

 Dear J. Crew,
Even though our relationship started out strong in 1989, I feel as though that in the last couple of years we have simply drifted apart. Was it lack of commitment, boredom or just growing pains? Whatever the case may be, when I received your package in the mail I was absolutely elated and really felt as though you were finally listening to me.
I guess one could say that
you simply had me at hello.

I look forward to our travels to Bali and have already picked out my ensemble as seen below.

I really hope that we can make it work this time.

All my Love and Admiration,
Lucinda

(p.s. Even though this may put me in debt, I am happy to work overtime so that I can continue to add to the  Bali trip's suitcase)

Painting the Town Coral....

Hip Hoppity Fabulocity!!
Milano-Shoes on the Street by The Fashionist

a little glitter to start your week....

Do you ever have those moments when you have FINALLY decided on which direction you want to go in when designing a room and then all it takes is one accessory to make sense of it all?

Well I did with this fabulously glorious Sailendra Pillow from Anthropologie...

For quite sometime, I have hemming and hawing about our guest room, or shall I say "Auntie Egg's Room"?

When the room was first built, the Tall One chose "October Sky" for the walls..which is a very very light peachy pink...
(personally I think he was hoping for that little baby girl to add to our brood). With the softest bed you can imagine and a shell chandelier (and the only t.v. in any of the bedrooms) it has often become my refuge or "woman cave". But sadly it has become the room of misfit furniture and therefore lacks no rhyme or reason...

Enlisting the help of my dear friend and stylist guru, Miss Heidi H, we started to pull images for what I like to call a Pink room for a Grownup-
Bohemian Rhapsody style.
It's not easy...as working with various shades of pinks, oranges and corals can definitely sway into the land of tiny princesses...

But with these images in mind, I know it can be done!!

or
do we go with some utterly fabulous grasscloth???

You know us Wasps don't bleed red...we bleed coral...

The possibilities are endless but luckily with my Anthropologie find and Miss Heidi's help we can whip up some gorgeousness in no time...

Stay Tuned...
