Happy Weekend Everyone!!!
We are in for a DOOZEY!!
The snow has already started, schools have closed and from the predictions, Blizzard Nemo could resemble the Blizzard of 1978.
Well I like to say I hadn't even been born yet for the
Blizzard of 1978..
But I was...
I was just one year younger than the Monster is now and 1978 was by far one of my most favorite years of my life..
Not because after the storm we made AMAZING igloos and snow forts but because I had THE best teacher anyone could ask for..
Mrs. Travers..
She was a tall drink of water with perfectly coiffed hair, blue painted eyes, Easter egg colored pant suits and the most delicious sweet southern accent.
She was an absolute dream and I was lucky enough to introduce her to the Monster right before she passed.
So while I'm feeling nostalgic..
(and waiting for the bathtub to fill with water and phones to charge)
I thought I'd share a little of 1978 with you...

This is what 1978 sounded like....
These are called albums for you youngins..
I just had to explain what a record player was to the Monster..
Response: "I don't get it..It seems too complicated"
This is what 1978 looked like...
I know..I know..1978 sounded better than it looked...
I think we can ALL thank our parents for those horrific haircuts and clothes because I think we ALL know that a 9 year-old can't cut their own hair or buy their own clothes..
But I got my revenge...
My brother and I played the Grease, Nick Cave, Sean Cassidy and Saturday Night Fever albums
NON-STOP...
Be Safe, Build an Igloo and Have a Great Weekend!!

This is such a fabulous post–to a wonderful blizzard, a fabulous igloo and a teacher as inspiring as Mrs. Travers for all of us!
ReplyDeleteHaha. This is incredibly awesome. You're right. I think that's true for every decade. I mean the 80s???! Yikes. Hope you stayed warm and safe this weekend!
