Happy Weekend!!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!

Mid January...
The holiday decorations have been packed into boxes and carefully placed into the attic for another year.
The ground becomes frozen, cold and uncomfortable to the foot.
The landscape becomes brown, bare and void of color.
We catch up on sleep from the exhaustion of a month of merriment.
Full of hope and energy, we try to honor our New Year's resolutions.
 We begin again.

There is an eerie silence to it..
Contemplative..
Introspective...
Perhaps a bit of Melancholy?

I disappeared this week from my beloved blog...
I needed to get my chickens in a row...
Get a head start on some wonderfully fun and creative projects that will keep me busy through the Spring..

But I am here..
Ready to begin again....

The Tall One received a rather fabulous gift this year..
a GoPro...
Meant for his adventures with the Monster via bike, boat or
foot...
It was only fitting that it's first use was of his boys in the first snow of a brand NEW year..

It's not perfect or fabulously edited..
It's real...
So for the Monster's school blog..
I put together a little something...
Something that may bring a little joy to your day...
Something that may make you feel young again...
Something that may make you realize how wonderfully free we all are..

Snowflakes

One year ago today, the town of Newtown, The state of Connecticut and parents from all around the world watched with disbelief, shock and disgust as we lost 26 of our own in a senseless tragedy.

When I woke up this morning with an overwhelming list of things to do and rather aggravated at my snow covered car, it only took reading a Facebook post from my dear friend, Miss Amy Graver of Elements Design, to simply put things in perspective.

"Today's snow keeping us home bound and allowing us spend unhurried, precious time with our children makes me think it is a gift from 26 angels. It could be their soft frozen beautiful tears falling from the sky reminding us to take the time, slow down, create memories and be together on this sad anniversary proving to me that love and hope exist and that they are not gone. Their magic is all around us if we just remember and focus on the light and love and never the hate and darkness. I'm rejoicing in their message and promising to work hard on turning my sorrow to joy and taking advantage of this day with my family. Heading off Facebook now. Cookie making, board games, hot cocoa and snowman building await. Peace, light and love all.

Today in the State of Connecticut we were granted a special gift..
Enjoy, Hold your babies tight and
dance amongst the snowflakes..

Happy Weekend!!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!

I have MY snowsuit ready...do YOU?
We have another round of snow coming our way this weekend because apparently in Connecticut, it snows every 3 days....

What this means is...
huddling by the fire, playing games and making homemade treats!

 Why not snow??!!
Mother Nature has her work cut out for her..
Not only is it the last weekend of February
BUT
we only have 26 more days till SPRING!!
Bring it on Lady!!

Speaking of treats...
I am loving these Martha Stewart Cheesecakes...
 BUT
before Martha knew anything about baking...
My Mom had the cheesecake down pat..
Honestly..
I think my brother still gets weak in the knees and salivates like a pup when the word cheesecake is mentioned..

I was lucky enough to have her make some for The Winter Wedding Shoot I designed a few years ago...
Styling: Chocolate Creative Design

Even better..
She gave us the recipe...
But
shhhh..it's a secret...

It is the perfect weekend to get snowed in as I certainly have plenty on my plate...
There is..
a new golden delicious blog to design...
a delicate ocean inspired photographer to rebrand...
an Island Farm wedding invitation to create...
and
I just got word today...
a locally famous Goose to look delicious enough to eat...

Be Safe, Make some Cheesecakes and Have Great Weekend!!

Just when we were granted a couple balmy spring-like days..
someone turned down the thermostat...

It's February!!

SPRING!!

I am still busy working away day and night on some lovely ladies new re-branding...

In fact..
I have officially become a new lover of Frenchies..
even that naughty George over at Lil Hoot has won my heart...

Let your imagination grow..Snow..Pillows...Blankets..

Once again they are predicting snow in New England. Plows are anxiously awaiting the first flake, while homeowners pull out their shovels in angst.
For some, snow isn't even an option...sooo..why not use your imagination..it's amazing what can happen..
I LOVE this image by Tim Macpherson...it resonates in me so many wonderful memories as a child. My parents had the perfect spiral staircase which was covered in plush carpeting. As much as wall to wall carpeting creeps me out now, as a kid...it's a dream come true. Blankets, sleeping bags, giant bean bags, boxes and pillows would whoosh my brother and I down our own indoor luge. Years before helmets, we strangely never cracked a skull. The only damage..laughing till our bellys ached.

So who needs snow...just open your mind and let your imagination grow...
