Glitter..Southern Style...

One of the most important things in life is the love of friends..
One of the best things in life is when you get to jump for JOY and shout HOORAY when they have accomplished something great!
This morning is no exception...
One of my former brides..
The lovliest of lovlies..
Miss Tami Rekas
(you know..that beauty from Southern Weddings Magazine)
has embarked on the adventure of becoming a wedding planner/stylist and
has formed the company
(more on this later)
located in New York and Virginia...
What started as clients quickly became friends and now even more exciting..
collaborator..
My heart has certainly skipped a beat...
So..
last year when she brought her clients Sarah & Ashby to my door..
I couldn't have been more ecstatic!
They allowed us crazy designers to convince them that
gold, glitter, stripes and florals were the way to go...
We couldn't have been luckier..
AND
as luck would have it...
Style Me Pretty thought it was pretty awesome too..
So go check it out my friends...

Shout a BIG hooray for Sarah &  Ashby..
Jump for JOY for Miss Tami Rekas..
This is just the beginning my lovely Southern Sister...
Your grace, wit, warmth, artistry and unmistakable Southern Charm
not only has won MY heart..
but will win the heart of others..

Friends..
This is certainly..
 one lady to watch...

a little glitter to start your week...

Who says Halloween can't be chock full of bling and glitter?
Personally, I would rather be Glenda any day of the week..

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

They made it just in time...
My lovely white ladies...

Lily of the Valley may remind me of my mother and grandmother
but...
When I asked the Monster which flower reminded him of me...
"White Lilacs Mama"

Maybe it's because it's THE only flower in which when they come into bloom are quickly snipped, brought in by bucketfuls and are carefully arranged in vases throughout the house...

They may only last a few short days...
But aren't they heavenly?

Which flower reminds you of your Mom?

Happy Weekend!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!

Well..we are now officially in the month of May!!
Hooray!!
It is by far one of my favorite months...
Wedding season has begun...
The oaks and elms are a mass of 100 shades of green...
while hues ranging from white to light pink to fuchsia dance on the flowering trees..
The grass is delicate and soft beneath bare feet...
The air is perfumed with the scent of lilacs, viburnums, cherry, apple and pear blossoms.
It doesn't get any better than this!

For all you May babies...
Did you know that Lily of the Valley is YOUR flower?
Well it is...

Some of the most elegant and graceful women of our time have carried Lily of the Valley as they walked down the aisle..
In the Language of Flowers, the Lily of the Valley is representative of sweetness, humility, returning happiness and trustworthiness.
,
But for me..
The Lily of the Valley has GREAT significance....
I literally cannot pass by them without thinking of my Grandmother or Mother...

My Grandmother had them planted along a secret pathway to her pool...
It was most definitely, without a doubt..a fairy pathway...
When my Grandmother passed and the house was sold...
My Mother scooped them up and replanted them at my parents house right by their pool...

When the Tall one and I purchased our antiquated farmhouse...
My Mother once again lovingly scooped some of them up and we planted them amongst the lilacs and the giant spruces..
(It would have sounded SOO much cooler if I said pool right?!)

So as the pips begin to emerge from the new spring soil..
I think of these lovely ladies...
and immediately (no thanks to my mother)
have this song run from the top of my brain to the very tip of my tongue..
Funny how things get passed down..
Since the very first time the Monster could sing..
My Mother and my Mom in Law both taught him this little ditty...
In fact..
If you just utter the first three words "white coral bells'..
he will sing the..whole..song...
it doesn't matter where he is..
the shower, up a tree, getting off the bus, riding a bike, getting dressed or even eating..
anyplace anytime anywhere..
He just can't help it..he has to finish the song..
I just tested him this morning..
kicking a ball..waiting for the bus..
3 little words..
Bam!
It's a fun party trick and I invite anyone to try it if they see him...

So whether it's seeing those delicate coral bells or hearing their song..
we both think of our lovely mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers...

Happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful ladies...
We'll be singing your song...

Be Safe, Call Your Mother and Have a Great Mother's Day Weekend!!

Thursdays are for Mood Boards...Bond...Anna Bond..

If you haven't figured it out by now, then you must know that I am deeply enamored (or possibly in love) with Anna Bond of Rifle Design. Now I don't know this lovely lady....yet...But I can tell you that since missing her at the National Stationery Show last year, as Miss Amy Graver and I thought it clever to go sans map, this year I will certainly not let that happen again!!

Always in decorating mode, I stumbled upon these beautiful fabrics and wallpapers by Nina Campbell for Osborne & Little.  I couldn't quite figure out why I was soooo enthralled by them.
Then it hit me...hard....
They were completely Anna Bondish! I can't even begin to tell you how much it makes me swoon when she paints with black...

So in honor of Miss Bond....
A delightful and whimsical Spring Mood Board..

Thursdays are for Mood Boards...New Year's Eve 2011

Paris When it Twinkles by French Essence

Today is a momentous occasion as it will be my very first true blue Mood Board on Glitter, Glue and Fireflies. With that being said, I couldn't help but bring in the New Year with a very exciting, new and important color, Honeysuckle by Pantone. Pantone has chosen Honeysuckle as their color of the year for 2011. Now, one might look at this color and think Spring but not here at GGF. In honor of one of my favorite Sparkling Wines at Sparkling Pointe Vineyards, Topaz, I figured a New Year's Eve board was exactly what we needed! Pink, Black, White and Glittery Metallics are the perfect combo for a momentous occasion such as New Year's Eve. So dust off those Tuxes, pour that pink bubbly and strap on your glitteriest of shoes for a night to remember!
