Hoots & Hollas.....

Sometimes...
just sometimes..
when the stars are correctly aligned...
the "Geeky Artist" becomes besties(yes I actually just wrote that) with the "Cool Girl".

Luckily for this "Geeky Artist"..
I just so happen to know a "Cool Girl"
and the Lovely Miss Sarah Crawford of Lil Hoot is perfectly just that..
"Cool"
I mean it...the girl is "Cool".
Really really Cool!
She wears Cool clothes
She has a Cool handsome husband
She has a pair of super deliciously Cool twin girls
She has Cool dogs (although one is very very very naughty)
She lives in a Cool house
She has THE Coolest sense of style
and she has the Coolest of Friends!!

Over the years, my secret plan has been to try to stand as close to her as possible so that some of her glittery coolness may just float my way..
Strange yes..
but it's worth a shot..

So of course when she mentioned that her cousin Ashly was getting married and if I could create all her paper loveliness..
I jumped, cantored and stampeded at the chance...

Being the "Cool Girl" that she is...
only SHE could make a mermaid bridal shower look
fantastically, outrageously GORGEOUS!

It is a true testament to the AMAZINGNESS that is Sarah Crawford that ALL the wedding vendors for Ashly & Scott's wedding
jumped on board to help this FABULOUS shower come to fruition!!

And let me tell you...
this is one group of talented women that I feel extremely lucky to be a part of their posse!!

So it all began with a lovely mermaid...

That sat on the sea wall of her mother's HOME...

Which MAGICALLY turned into a illustration...

that became an INVITATION Suite...

which brought the most STUNNING of brides...

and the MOST important of friends, family and sparkly princesses...

to a glittery confection of a PARTY!

 Where one could SIP champagne...

smell the GORGEOUS flowers...

 nibble on some DECADENT desserts..

take HOME a mermaid...
and cast a LOVE spell.....

See..
I told you she was "Cool"!!

Seriously...
only Mrs. Cool would get this fabulous soiree posted not on just one blog but two...
Check it out friends..
&

To my dearest friend...
YOU truly have the Midas touch as everything you do...
turns to gold!!

Blistering Barnacles!!

I am OBSESSED with these paper-clay DIY barnacles over at

In fact..I could design an entire wedding around them...
In fact, Miss Lil Hoot needs to pick up some gold leafing so we could make some of these beauties for a certain lovely mermaid I know...

Whale of a Dad...

Father's Day is rapidly approaching and I dare say that it is always tough finding something for the Tall One. If only I could purchase a Grady White with center console that would take him out to the Reefs to fish, then I would be set for life!
Clothes are impossible to find....
Being  a mere 6'7" makes it quite hard to find a decent tie...
Luckily..way back in 2000, Vineyard Vines solved that problem for our wedding!
Sooo..since the Tall One has been on a "Get in Shape" kick and has been looking like a hot tamale..
I think he would appreciate these Pattern Fish Board shorts from Vineyard Vines..
I also have a deep sinking feeling that Mr. Lil Hoot will be wearing these Mermaid Trunks in Pink,
if his ladies get their way...
and if I know my ladies..
They will..

 Happy Weekend Everyone!!

We have been having THE most fabulous weather here in Connecticut!!
Quite dreamy..I must say..
In fact..I think that I have finally thawed out from this winter..

The Monster and I have unpacked our green thumbs from the attic and have started planting the gardens...
YUM!
Cross your fingers for baskets full of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squashes, and melons..

My dear friend Miss Sarah Crawford of Lil Hoot is designing, hosting and planning a shower for the lovely Ashly this Saturday..
I heard that a mermaid and lots and lots of bubbly is on it's way...

Be Safe,Toast to June and Have a Great Weekend!!!

Happy Weekend!!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!!

My lovely fuchsia and soft pink ladies have arrived.....
A mere two weeks early yet they have shown their beautiful
faces in glorious abundance in my garden..
Which can only mean..
I have a house filled with gorgeous peonies!!
What more could a girl ask for?

This weekend marks the first wedding of the season at Island Farm.
I will be assisting the lovely and talented Miss Adrienne O'Connor of Ruffles & Tweed to bring Jeff & Leah's dream to life!

But whenever my pink & fushia ladies show their lovely faces..
I can't help but recall one of my MOST favorite weddings that I have had the pleasure to design and coordinate...

The loveliest of lovelies..
Miss Sarah & Mr. Christopher Crawford..
(see how many peonies you can count)

It was "The BEST DAY EVAH!!"
(as quoted per Ms.C)

If you can believe it..this wedding was in 2005...
She was one of the first ladies to mix peonies & milk glass...
She is and will always be a creative ahead of her time...

Stay Safe, Pick a Peony and Have a Great Holiday Weekend!!

Fuzzy wuzzy was warm...

Bananas sign by William Dohman on Etsy

I LOVE Rachel Zoe.......Her show, her style and her passion for fashion sincerely makes me the happiest gal in the land!
One thing we share in common (besides vintage and bohemian chic)...
FUR!
Yes, you heard me correctly....fur. How positively un-p.c. is that!
Well, I can thank my Mom who allowed me (at the earliest of ages) to be enveloped by her Beaver fur coat for years.
Thankfully, I cannot afford the real deal so all those little creatures will be safe and sound...
(although I am getting a bit tired and frustrated with that wood chuck who is tearing up our property and the 200+ year old stone walls)

They have made outstanding progress in the world of faux fur, though it's not as scrumptiousit will do just fine for me.

Because...

I LOVE to wear it on my toes....

On my noggin....
Hat via at Asos

On my fingers......
Gloves via Piperlime

and around my neck....
Scarf via Asos

Let's not forget for my iphone and wallet....

Purse via Zara

Just when I wasn't looking...( isn't that how it always is, when you find the love of your life)
I think I found another piece to add to my collection...

Be still my heart....

I love you Zara!!

The only piece missing...
a Monsterette wearing exactly this..

Vest at Zara

C'mon Lil Hoot...
It was the twins birthday yesterday...
(best post EVER written!!)
don't you think they need some fabulous fur?

Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!

Every Cinco De Mayo, I can't help but remember one of the most fun and elegantly designed weddings that I ever had the privilege of working on. At their wedding, Mr. & Mrs. Crawford (Ms Lil Hoot) just so happened to have the tastiest and most decadent margaritas EVER!! All I have to do is close my eyes and I can hear the mariachis in the background, taste the salt on my lips and voila..I am there. Ok...so I didn't really get to have one that day as I was working, but I know where to get one whenever I want... Mrs. Crawford's sister and brother-in-law, who formally owned Zavalas in New London, now have Milagros in Stonington. Trust me folks, these are not your ordinary margaritas...with flavors like hibiscus and honeydew, they have certainly taken it to another level. Through the grapevine over the years, I have been told that they are the best margaritas in Connecticut...
Maybe you should try for yourself...
What are you waiting for...
Today is the perfect day!!

Let your imagination grow..Lil Hoot

Over the past few weeks, I have been eagerly awaiting and crazily excited to be able to bring this post to you! If you have been following along with Glitter, Glue and Fireflies you might just recognize the beautiful woman in the pictures above. If not, this lovely lady, the fabulous Miss Sarah Loomis Crawford has graced many of my posts including Let your Imagination Grow on True & Wesson
and most recently in the Holiday Gift Guides this past December.

As I had mentioned in the Holiday Gift Guide, this lady is certainly one to watch. Little did I know, a mere month later, that I would receive the call I had been waiting for for years. Miss Crawford has allowed her imagination to grow by coming up with an ingenious idea...planning and designing kids birthday parties.
Now if I wasn't such an insane designer and relished designing the Monster's parties, I can tell you Miss Crawford would be the person I would call!!
Witnessing her design the most AMAZING weddings EVER, she is the Queen of thoughtful, creative and certainly out of the box details. Most importantly..she does it with passion and with heart!

Sooo...I was flattered, excited and deeply honored that Miss Crawford asked me to do her company branding. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to collaborate with her again...Like two peas in a pod...

So without further adieu...
Let's Meet Mr. Hoot, the face of Lil Hoot Parties..

I have to admit it folks..this HAS to be my all time favorite company that I have branded thus far. Mr. Hoot was inspired by Miss Crawford's twin daughters love of owls. Honestly..I could look at him all day...I have fallen in love with an owl...

So, we designed up some simple business cards and flat notecards to get Mr. Hoot on his way..

But the ultimate of ultimate was the design of Lil Hoot's web page...

Trust me folks...you HAVE to go see it....Simple, clean with a bit of a surprise....
All I can say is that Jon Michaelsen of Braincloud Media is a creative GENIUS, the coolest cat out there and he is stuck with me forever!!

So run, jump and fly on over to Lil Hoot's web page, Facebook page and most inspiring..the blog..

It just goes to show you...by letting your imagination grow, anything is possible!!
