Sea for Two....

 

 They say patience is a virtue...

sadly it is one virtue that I don't have...

I just finished up Katie and Joe's wedding suite and instead of waiting months I decided to pick up my camera and shoot away...

Inspired by vintage block prints, the sea and of course my favorite Island..

Island Farm on Elihu Island..

We created a suite that was both whimsical and alive with color.

With the addition of the word tomfoolery...

I think we can guesstimate that this will be one fun party!!

 I honestly can't wait to see the lovely Miss Adrienne O'Connor of Ruffles and Tweed work her magic for their big day!!

She's teamed up with Jamie Collins Photography, B & M Catering Co, Power Posse Productions, Sperry Tents and Country Portables for a fabulous evening!!

We have been gearing up over at the Island for not 1 but 2 weddings during the month of September...

There is a lot of mowing, painting, polishing, bed making and weed wacking going on by the best group of worker bees EVER!!

I have had one of the most wonderful summers EVER due to the fact that I was able to stick to my guns and make sure that I carved out ME and family time. Luckily what started out as a dream became a reality!

In that wonderful time, I have had the delight in watching some of my MOST creative friends get the cheers that they so deserve...

 

So..In the next couple of days....

I will be bringing out my old pom-poms and cheering from the sidelines for this talented quintet of friends.

Just as I was being whisked away via airplane, The loveliest of lovelies, 

Miss Adrienne O'Connor of Ruffles & Tweed, 

got a seriously wonderful shout out at Style Me Pretty for a wedding she coordinated and designed at Island Farm this past May.

I was lucky enough to be on site assisting Miss Adrienne so that I was able to see this gorgeous couple and their wedding weekend unfold into something purely magical.

Now I am going to keep this simple and sweet as I am saving all sorts of jibber jabber for the Peacocks & Oxen blog, which will definitely be starting up again right before Fall wedding season.

 

BUT

I can tell you this much..

That yes their last name is actually LOVE.

Yes, they are actually one of the most gorgeous couples ever seen in real life & on film.

Yes, they had probably one the hardest working and talented group of vendors in the universe.

Yes, there was actually a pig roasting on a spit for at least 10 hours on the Island

Yes, there was a popcorn machine AND a photobooth sitting right under the tent.

 

It was a delight to spend an entire weekend with Leah & Jeff AND I have to say... their families were equally delicious.

 Now

People always ask me..

"What was your favorite part or detail of the wedding?"

This my friends was without a doubt...

the most gorgeous, cute as a button, perfectly impish grinned and Chuck T wearing ring bearer I have EVER seen..

This weekend marks the first wedding of the season at Island Farm.

I will be assisting the lovely and talented Miss Adrienne O'Connor of Ruffles & Tweed to bring Jeff & Leah's dream to life!

But whenever my pink & fushia ladies show their lovely faces..

I can't help but recall one of my MOST favorite weddings that I have had the pleasure to design and coordinate...

 Yesterday, I was sitting at my work table surrounded by my weapons of choice (Mr. X-Acto, Ms Rotary Cutter and the annoyingly clingy Mr. Super 77) when my little ole iPhone made its ding dong message sound. I arose, walked over to my computer and with a band-aided finger and a few fingers stuck together (just a few battle scars) I logged into my email account for the message.

What I saw was a tag on Facebook from the lovely Miss Anna Sawin.

It's literally killing me right now not to be able to write and talk about our adventure...

I am amidst another adventure...

I am in the wiles of Maine..

standing on a rocky cragg overlooking the sea while smelling the pines..

Ok so my body isn't really there but my mind is and I am with the lovely Spring & Silas on their wedding day.

So..in a 1 1/2 weeks...I will share my story about Amy & Tim

who just so happen to be the LOVELIEST of all couples and who had the most AMAZING team of vendors whom they trusted with all their hearts..

Happy Weekend Everyone!!!

This was certainly one of those weeks that not even the turkeys could get me down...

Starting with the Monster's birthday and ending with the "Sperry Boys" putting up a tent at the Island (For those of you who don't know the "Sperry Boys"...two words..Abercrombie & Fitch)

Anyhooo, I am super duper deliciously excited to pass the torch to the most loveliest of lovelies, Miss Adrienne O'Connor of Ruffles & Tweed, who might I add, will be coordinating and designing a fantastic wedding on the Island this weekend. 

Even after 11 years, whenever I see the tent go up..it still gives me goosebumps...especially on Thursday which was the most glorious of days. It will forever remind me of my wedding and the exhilaration of a brand new life with the Tall One.

This time, I get to soak it all in without all those crazy details dancing in my head as I get to assist Miss Adrienne on her amazing adventure this weekend..

An Island in the Sun...

I have been dreaming for many years to be able to use these words on paper designed for a wedding on Island Farm..

Finally it was time..

Their eyes were filled with sparkle, glitter and possibly rainbows the first time that I showed them the Island. They are so very much in love, full of hope and true admiration for each other.

Her hair is the same color as the hay when the mid afternoon sun  hits the tops of the fields..He simply adores her. They see the Island for what it truly is..full of energy, life and a bit of wildness..

I dare say I am a little biased as they chose the same place to get married as I.

With just a drop of color and a swirl of whimsey these two beautiful travelers have made a recipe for the most fabulous bohemian chic wedding EVER!

Working with Amy & Tim has been an absolute dream..Reading their thoughtful emails and her squeals of delight as the paper unfolded

certainly made me realize how much I love my job. 

Kinda reminded of a certain sparkly girl..

I think my aha moment(after the save the date was designed) was when I was walking through the "Big House" on the Island with Miss Adrienne O'Connor(something I actually do in my sleep) when I really noticed the vintage wallpaper in my favorite yellow bedroom.

In 11 years, I never did notice the fabulous "Hay Field" on the wall...or did I?

Once every zillion years you come across that person who just wows you. Their strong work ethic, ability to be a part of a team, grace under pressure, thoughtfullness and energy inspire you to want to be a better person. This is exactly the type of person I wanted as the Coordinator/Designer for Island Farm on Elihu Island. Island Farm is one of the most beautiful places to get married at but it is certainly one of the most challenging to produce one. 30 acres of land, 5 houses and a 4 day weekend can absolutely exhaust anyone but when I met Miss Adrienne O'Connor...well...there was no question in my mind...Having been my baby for 10 years, it's kinda like being Willy Wonka and finding the right Charlie to take over. A huge thanks goes out to Miss Sarah True who was the one that was instrumental in having Miss Adrienne come our way...She blew me away the first time we collaborated on a wedding...It was like she had been there for years..and always one step ahead of me...3 years later, I couldn't be prouder and happier to be able to pass the torch onto her. 

Exciting things are happening as her new blog Ruffles and Tweed launches in January 2011! It will be filled with Wedding inspired goodness and a look into the life of a wedding coordinator/designer...

She is certainly one to watch and I can't wait to see as her new adventure unfolds...
